Jiuquan is the birthplace of Dunhuang art and China's petroleum and nuclear industries. It is the cradle of China's modern aerospace and home to the first national wind power base with a capacity of tens of millions of kilowatts. It is also a national e-commerce demonstration base and a regional node city. The city has been designated as an important node city along the Silk Road Economic Belt.
China has initiated its first large-scale project to repurpose retired wind turbines in Jiuquan, Gansu province, remanufacturing 25 turbines that have been in service for over 15 years.
As the core of the new energy sector in Gansu province, Jiuquan city is building a comprehensive new energy equipment manufacturing system based on a full industry supply chain.
