Jiuquan GDP grows 6.4% in H1

The GDP of Jiuquan in Gansu province reached 47.26 billion yuan ($6.52 billion) in the first half of 2025, up 6.4 percent year-on-year, according to the Gansu Provincial Bureau of Statistics.

Animal husbandry posted steady growth, with combined pork, beef, mutton, and poultry output up 6.6 percent. The industrial added value of enterprises above the designated size — those with annual revenue of at least 20 million yuan ($2.7 million) — rose 9.8 percent, driven by rapid gains in the new energy sector. Solar cell output surged 51.8 percent, while wind turbine production grew 32.1 percent.

The city's services sector expanded 5.8 percent. Financial services grew 8.7 percent, contributing 1.2 percentage points to overall tertiary industry growth and emerging as a key driver.

Retail sales of consumer goods totaled 20.87 billion yuan, representing a 7.7 percent increase. Sales of basic consumer goods remained stable, while upgraded and replacement products performed strongly. Retail sales of smart home appliances and audiovisual equipment jumped 104 percent, and sales of new energy vehicles soared 138.7 percent.

General public budget revenue rose 13.2 percent to 3.69 billion yuan. Residents' incomes also increased steadily, with per capita disposable income for urban residents up 5.1 percent and that of rural residents up 6.7 percent year-on-year.
