Jiuquan in Gansu province reported robust industrial performance in the first quarter of 2025, with the value of the city's secondary industry reaching 10.13 billion yuan ($1.41 billion) — a year-on-year increase of 13.6 percent and ranking third in the province.

Focusing on its strategy of strengthening the industrial sector, Jiuquan has implemented coordinated policies to stabilize and expand its industrial economy. Authorities have emphasized daily monitoring, weekly coordination, and periodic early warnings, while supporting the resumption of production in idle factories, restoring output in underperforming firms, and optimizing the performance of key enterprises.

In the first quarter, crude oil extraction and processing volumes remained consistent with the same period last year. The output of grid-connected electricity from renewable sources reached 8.59 billion kilowatt-hours, marking a 10.6 percent year-on-year increase. The city produced about 1.15 million metric tons of washed coal — up 35.9 percent — and 516,000 metric tons of coke, an increase of 9.2 percent. Output from new energy equipment manufacturers totaled 4.98 billion yuan, growing 42.9 percent year-on-year.

Jiuquan also pushed ahead with major industrial projects by providing streamlined, end-to-end services across project lifecycles. In the first quarter, 66 of 165 key manufacturing projects began construction, with a restart rate of 40 percent. Industrial fixed-asset investment totaled 8.35 billion yuan, up 7.9 percent, while overall fixed-asset investment reached 1.64 billion yuan.

To support economic recovery and boost business confidence, the city continued offering tailored services to enterprises. Officials conducted regular visits, promoted policy awareness, gathered feedback, and maintained issue resolution lists.

A total of 127 business-related problems were recorded in the first quarter — of which 116 were resolved — with a resolution rate of 91.3 percent.
