As the weather gradually warms, the fields of Yangguan, a town in Dunhuang, Gansu province, come to life with the sight of growers wielding shovels, meticulously unearthing grape vines.
The town of Yangguan stands as a renowned hub of grape cultivation. It has the largest seedless white grape production base in the province. Besides favorable natural conditions, the grape vines here need to be buried in winter and then unearthed and stretched in spring. This step ensures optimal conditions for light exposure and air permeability, effectively warding off the risk of bud decay.
Presently, across various towns within Dunhuang, the task of excavating grape vines has commenced in earnest.
With diligent efforts underway, it is anticipated that by mid-April, all of the 4533.3 hectares of land will have undergone this process and stand ready for the next stages of growth and cultivation.
